Ralph Dixon Love, Jr., 76 a lifelong resident of Andice in Williamson County passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Ralph’s family and friends gathered for visitation on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown. A service celebrating Ralph’s life and his faith was celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, July 27, 2012 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Matsler Cemetery in Florence, Texas.
Ralph was born November 9, 1935 in Andice, Texas to the late Ralph Dixon Love, Sr. and Myrtle Emilee Baker Love. Ralph was raised in the Andice, graduating from Georgetown High School and went on to attend Southwestern University in Georgetown and Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Ralph's work career began at the Georgetown Hospital and Clinic. He worked at Cotton Research with the University of Texas as well as the Water Development Board with the State of Texas. For the past 19 years he worked at the Georgetown Public Library with children's programs and as a genealogist. Ralph had a passion for research and genealogy and worked for many years on the genealogy of families of Williamson County and beyond. His work built bridges linking the past with the present. In his work with children's programs, he took kids on field trips to local cemeteries to teach them about their ancestors and how important genealogy research is to history and keeping the stories alive. Ralph took great pride in studying plants, various animals including cows and sheep and growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Ralph was very proud supporter of the local 4-H clubs. His passion for history and genealogy, his love of the land and animals will be carried on by those families and children he touched through his years of diligence, research, and his ability to make events and people in history come alive through his storytelling. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Dixon Love, Sr., and Emilee Baker Love and his sister, Virginia Ann Moore.
Ralph leaves behind to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters, Dr. Glenda Love Bell of Austin, Kenneth Joe Love and his wife Barbara of Mt Vernon, Texas , Emilee Sue Love of Andice, Rev. John Aldred “Buck” Love and his wife Terry of Grandfalls, Texas, Lue Love Wilhite and her husband Punk of Florence; his brother in law, Billy Joe Moore of Andice; nieces and nephews, Joe Alan Moore and wife Magali, Dawn Nicholson and husband Brad, Tammy Bell, Carol Taylor, Ray Holloway, Heather Mitchell and husband Heath, Brandon Love and wife Lana, James Love, Jodi Vaughn and husband Chad, Steven Holloway, Levi Wilhite; and 10 great nieces and nephews; along with numerous other loving family and a host of friends.
